My name is Markus Wehrhahn and I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist.
I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London and am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.
I trained in an integrative approach, which uses the relationship between client and counsellor as the base for the journey together. Depending on the client I draw from different approaches, such as person-centred, mindfulness, cognitive and solution-focused theories, as I don’t believe that one approach fits all clients or all issues.
During our sessions I aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your issues. This could be anything from low self-worth, anxiety, stress, bereavement and anger to relationship difficulties, work problems and sexual identity, although this list is not exhaustive.
Our first meeting is a chance for you to tell me more about what brings you to counselling and what you expect to get from it. It also gives us the opportunity to find out if we think we can work together.
If we decide to continue we will set a number of sessions, which will usually be weekly at the same time. Sessions last for 50 minutes and cost £60, although some concessionary rates are available for the unwaged, people on a low income or students.
Apart from working in private practice, I volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Support, which is a nationwide charity helping people who have suffered loss. Previously I was also a volunteer counsellor for ELOP, which is a LGBT charity in Walthamstow.
In my previous career I have worked as an actor and in the education sector.
Sessions can also be held in German, which is my mother tongue, and British Sign Language (BSL level 3).
